Central European-style Christmas markets may not be a big tradition in Athens, but each year, the historic capital of Greece does Christmas in its own special way, with a large selection of Christmas events, parks, and fairs that are sure to get you in the holiday spirit.

Wondering where to get all the festive feels in Athens? Here are some of the top Christmas events in/around Athens you can’t miss.
Christmas Factory
For the most extravagant Christmas market event in Athens, look no further than Christmas Factory, which takes place every year at the Technopolis courtyard in Gazi.
This bright, buzzing affair involves not only a variety of European-style wooden huts selling all kinds of tasty Christmas market food and gifts, but also a series of festive performances and programming, plus rides like a big ferris wheel.
AIDONAKIA Winter Wonderland
Just outside of central Athens in Marousi, you’ll find another one of the top Christmas events in the Athens area: AIDONAKIA Winter Wonderland, which is of course held at the Aidonakia amusement park.
Besides a festive makeover for the entire park, there are also special holiday-specific attractions, from a beautiful Ice Palace and Santa’s house to a special frozen garden and Christmas train.
Christmas Village at the Christmas Theater
Just outside of the Galatsi Indoor Olympic Stadium (which is home to the Athens Christmas Theater), you’ll find another beautiful Christmas village set up with wooden chalets selling typical Christmas market treats and gifts.
With tasty eats from around the world and fun games for visitors of all ages, this is a great Christmas market to visit in Athens if you’re catching a show at the Christmas Theater.
SNFCC Christmas Adventures
While not a typical Christmas market, another fun Christmas activity to enjoy in Athens with kids is Christmas Adventures at the SNFCC.
Come Christmas time, this park gets converted into a fun Christmas zone complete with inflatable reindeer and games organized by mystical elves!
Santa Claus Kingdom
Lastly, for those who don’t mind going a bit further afield, Santa Claus Kingdom, AKA the the largest Christmas event in Greece, is actually held at the Mediterranean Exhibition Centre, about a 30 minute drive from central Athens.
In addition to tis own Christmas market, this massive event is said to include…
