For over 30 years, the Bern Christmas Market at Weisenhausplatz has been considered one of the best Christmas markets in the city.
With over fifty wooden chalets selling all kinds of typical Christmas market food and gifts, this market continues for a few days after Christmas as the “Old Year’s Market”, making it a great choice for visitors who happen to be stopping by just after Christmas.
Bern Minster Christmas Market (Berner Münster Weihnachtsmarkt)
Set in front of the iconic Bern Minster at Münsterplatz, you’ll find one of Bern’s most famous Christmas market – the Bern Minster Christmas Market (Berner Münster Weihnachtsmarkt), which has been taking place since 1984.
Here, you’ll find artisans from Bern and the surrounding region selling their handcrafted wares, all amidst the backdrop of stunning centuries-old buildings.
According to the official Bern tourism page, there is also usually a special artisan market on the Minster terrace on the first and third Advent weekend.
Bern Star Market (Berner Sternenmarkt)
In Bern’s Kleine Schanze park, you’ll find the 80+ stalls that make up the Bern Star Market, one of the newest Christmas markets in the city.
