Ribeauvillé’s Christmas Market is well known for its unique Medieval theme, which turns the historic town into a Middle Ages wonderland for two weekends every advent season.
We first visited Ribeauvillé in November 2019 and loved walking around the beautifully decorated streets which were full of festive flair.
While the famous Medieval Christmas market was not running during the days of our visit, we still captured plenty of photos to show you what Ribeauvillé looks like at Christmas time, and are excited to share those with you (as well as translated information from official sources) to help you plan your trip!

Why Visit Ribeauvillé Christmas Market?
Wondering whether Ribeauvillé Christmas Market is worth a trip? Here are some reasons to visit:
It has a great Medieval theme
The Ribeauvillé Christmas Market is one of the most unique Christmas markets in the Alsace, with a medieval theme that brings visitors a few centuries back in time.
From costumed vendors and on-theme performances to wandering minstrels and hot mead to sample, this commitment to a Medieval theme is what sets the Ribeauvillé Christmas Market apart from others in the region. If you’re looking to mix things up and get a good variety of markets during your trip, then this is definitely one to add to your list!
PS: If you like themed markets, consider planning a visit to the ‘Blue Christmas’ event in Guebwiller, the elves’ Christmas market in Turckheim, or the eco-friendly upcycling market in Kingersheim.
It’s very close to other great Christmas markets
Lastly, it’s worth noting how easy it is to visit Ribeauvillé from other famous Christmas markets in the Alsace.
For instance, Colmar, Eguisheim, Riquewihr, and Kaysersberg are all less than 20 minutes away by car. There’s even a free shuttle that runs between all of them (except for Eguisheim), making them an ideal bundle of markets to do if you don’t have your own car.
And if you want to venture further, both Mulhouse and Strasbourg are within a one hour drive.
So, if you’re planning a larger Alsace Christmas Market road trip, then Ribeauvillé is a convenient (and beautiful!) choice.
Where to Find Christmas Market Stalls in Ribeauvillé
Luckily, Ribeauvillé is a very compact town, so the Christmas festivities/Christmas market are impossible to miss.
To find the center of town from the main parking area, you can enter via the ‘entrance’ at Grand Rue and Route de Bergheim.
From here, you’ll find all sorts of beautiful decorations and festivities along the Grand Rue.
